There is something so special about a wedding that feels completely true to the people getting married. No elaborate production, no packed schedule, just a beautiful setting, thoughtful details, and the freedom to spend the day together.
Colin and Claire’s intimate wedding in Lake Placid at the Mirror Lake Inn was exactly that. Natural, elegant, and timeless, with a classic boat ride across Mirror Lake from the Whiteface Club, a quiet ceremony on the Mirror Lake Inn dock, and a celebration at one of the couple’s favorite local restaurants, Smoke Signals.
From the bride’s vintage-inspired gown and wide-brimmed hat to the stillness of the lake, every part of the day felt considered without ever feeling overdone.
One of the things I loved most about this wedding was that the Claire and Colin chose to get ready together. Rather than spending the morning apart and waiting for a grand reveal, they began the day side by side.
Claire looked beautiful in a vintage-inspired gown with delicate pearl detailing at the collar and waist, finished with an elegant hat that gave her look a wonderful sense of old-world charm. Her blue bridal bouquet and vintage jewelry stood as timeless companions to her distinctly classic style. Colin looked timeless in a navy suit and cognac brown shoes, a classic pairing. They shared a refined yet distinctive style, a perfect fit for a wedding that felt classic without being overly traditional.
The couple arrived to their Mirror Lake Inn ceremony in classic teak boat from Whiteface Club across Mirror Lake. It was such a lovely way to arrive, embracing the lake rather than simply passing by it on the way to the ceremony.
With the village along its shoreline and the Adirondack mountains surrounding the area, a wedding at Mirror Lake offers an unmistakable serenity.
For Claire and Colin, there was no need for an elaborate ceremony space. The lake, the dock, and the couple themselves were enough. They walked each other down to the ceremony, a simple decision, but one that said so much about the kind of day they wanted. Rather than building anticipation around a traditional aisle entrance, they approached the moment side by side.
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at Smoke Signals in Lake Placid.
Looking back at this wedding, what stands out most is how naturally everything came together.
The couple began the day together, traveled across Mirror Lake by classic boat, walked down to their ceremony side by side, and celebrated with loved ones afterward over a delicious meal.
Nothing needed to be overcomplicated.
It was beautiful, personal, and entirely their own. A perfect Lake Placid wedding day for Colin and Claire.
