Spring Adirondack Mountain Wedding in Lake Placid
When winter and spring collide it is pure magic in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. With soft warm breezes blowing through the valleys, and cool smooth ice still reflecting the blue skies above it is enough to take your breath away. This isn’t the beginning of their love story though…
The Story
Chelsea and Sean’s story began all the way back during their years at Le Moyne College. Their love and commitment has only grown since then and the mountains have been a special haven through the years. Sean proposed to Chelsea in the heart of the High Peaks sitting by the cool waters of Avalanche Lake. It seemed only fitting that they would decide to say their vows to one another in the Adirondacks.
We kept our fingers and toes crossed all week, in the hopes that we would have clear skies above. Mother nature was kind, the day was warm and the showers held off until right before the ceremony overlooking Mirror Lake. To be able to capture their first look, with the mountains in the background, we went to one of my favorite locations right outside of Lake Placid. I loved the quiet sweetness of the first look. I felt like Sean was just holding his breath taking in how beautiful his love looked.
The weather was perfect for wedding party pictures in the open fields and portraits of just the two of them. By choosing to see each other prior to the ceremony we were able to capture so many amazing photographs at a location that we probably wouldn’t have been able to get to after the ceremony. Their wedding party was also able to head strait to the bar during cocktail hour, which is always a good thing!
After portraits we headed to Smoke Signals for the wedding ceremony and reception surrounded by their closest family and friends. Even with the little bit of rain during the ceremony, Chelsea and Sean were still able to say their vows outside under the overhang.
Lake Placid is beautiful any time of year, but this day felt especially beautiful with spring and winter both making an appearance. The fields were glowing with signs of spring, yet the lake still held the ice of winter.
Congratulations Chelsea and Sean, your day was beautiful and I was honored to capture it for you!
