The Lake Placid Lodge is one of the most serene places to get away to when you need to escape to the mountains. So many of my couples reach out to me for photographs while staying at the Lodge. It is always one of my favorite venues in the area. The Lake Placid Lodge sits on Lake Placid’s shores with views of Whiteface Mountain from almost every room. There are no TVs, which is fantastic because you find time to reconnect while sitting by the fire, enjoying the view from an Adirondack chair, cross-country skiing on the bounty of trails, or just enjoying a specialty cocktail at Maggie’s. I was thrilled when Qasim reached out about cozy winter maternity photos at the Lake Placid Lodge for him and his wife, Sara.
Spending a few hours with Qasim and Sara was a joy. I loved photographing this amazing time in their lives on film for them. And can we pause a moment to admire Sara’s amazing burgundy velvet dress? She looked stunning! We started with photographs at the Lake Placid Lodge, where they stayed for a few days with photos on the terrace, in front of the stone fireplace, and then made our way to the lake. I think the ones walking down the path are my favorite, though!
After warming up for a minute inside and changing into outfit number two, we headed to a trail I had found early while location scouting. I wanted to give Sara and Qasim a winter wonderland feel for their cozy winter maternity photos. The location I found was perfect. I was excited to try a new spot and will be using this gem again!
The cozy sweaters and the plaid blanket they brought were perfect for the woods’ snowy location. With the blanket, we were able to capture sweet, snuggling photos in the snow. Don’t be afraid to bring just one extra element to your photo session. There are so many options, from cozy blankets, beautiful flowers or a bottle of champagne for an engagement session.
