The air was cold and crisp but the sun was shining on Sarah and Dr. Parish’s wedding day in the Adirondacks of upstate NY. Held at the Golden Arrow Resort they beautifully mixed touches of luxury and mountain charm. Gold, fur and a hint of the mountain spirit sprinkled in their winter wedding celebration was breathtaking.
As I walked into the Black Forest Room at the Golden Arrow it was buzzing with excitement and energy. Sarah looked absolutely stunning even before the finishing touches of earrings, feather coat and fur boots were on. Her amazing wedding party was so much fun! These girls braved the ice and snow for some of my favorite photographs from the morning!
Dr. Parish and the groomsmen were just as awesome. They wouldn’t have it any other way than to head out onto the frozen lake for pictures. The with the snow caped mountains added the perfect backdrop for photographs.
I often wonder what my couples wedding ceremonies will be like. Will they be sweet and subdued or full of funny stories and laughter!? I had an inkling that because they were high school sweet hearts that it would be touching. Also because of how Sarah described how he proposed, I knew they both had a great sense of humor. Like I imagined, their ceremony was the perfect mix laughter and tears of joy as they recited their vows that they had written to one another. (PS. I included their proposal story at the end of the post because it is just too good)
With the sun setting and the perfect pink sky fading into dusk we made our way out onto the ice for their portraits as Husband and Wife. You will just have to look at these photographs because describing them could never do justice to how beautiful they were.
And make sure you stay until the end of the post for the cake cutting photograph too : ) I promise it is well worth it!

The Proposal
“We had opened (Christmas) presents that morning before brunch and I had really gone out of my way to get everyone nice presents. I had just graduated university and had a great job. I was internally disappointed when Nevin only gave me a can opener (which admittedly, I had asked for). I didn’t vocalize my sadness and swallowed it. It was about half an hour after unwrapping gifts and at brunch that Nevin suddenly ‘charged,’ me in my kitchen with a ring thrust at me and him on his knees. I have no idea what he said, and I don’t think he remembers either but I said yes!” – Sarah
