Winter Wedding at The Whiteface Lodge
“The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.” — Morrie Schwartz
“In like a lion out like a lamb” is what I always heard about March growing up. This year March came in like a lion and feels like it is going to leave like one too!
I was really looking forward to photographing Brittany and Jon’s wedding at the Whiteface Lodge for many reasons. One of which was because of their excitement for being in an area they love. They chose the Whiteface Lodge because of their many trips together to the Adirondack Mountains. Hiking the High Peaks and the adventures they have had in the mountains is just one of the reasons this area is so special to them.
I spoke with Brittany and Jon a couple of weeks before their wedding to check in with them and they told me they had their fingers crossed for snow. I was a little surprised by this because I thought they would be wishing for warm spring weather! I was a little concerned their dream might not come true, given the unpredictable nature of March weather, but I kept an eye on the weather and hoped the snow would last until their big day!
Driving to Lake Placid in the Adirondacks is stunning any time of year. This day was particularly beautiful though. The ground was still blanketed with a layer of sparkling snow and the sun would peek out from behind the clouds and light up the snow-covered peaks.
I loved that Brittany’s sisters were getting ready with her and met me at the door with huge smiles on their faces! They even did Brittany’s hair and makeup which looked just perfect. It always makes the day easier when everything is in one location and because everyone was staying at the Lodge, I was able to take photographs of Jon getting ready and reading the letter from Brittany!
The day unfolded beautifully and we even had the snow showers that were wished for! Make sure you check out the super sweet photo of Jon giving Brittany a little wave as she walked down the aisle! This was probably on of my favorite moments as well as them trusting me when they were asked to stand in front of the pool for photographs!
