your questions,

ANSWERED

My goal is to work with you through the planning process to ensure that your wedding photography is a seamless part of your day. I believe your photographs should tell the story of your wedding in a way that was even more beautiful than you imagined.

I hope that the following information will allow you to get to know me and how I approach photographing each wedding I capture. I am an upstate New York wedding photographer, but travel throughout New England for weddings and events. Please understand that no two weddings are the same, so feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions you may have!

How far in advance should we book?

1AD 7082 - FAQ

I suggest as soon as possible! There is nothing worse than having to tell couples that their date is already booked. Typically couples reserve their wedding weekend at least a year in advance. Currently, I am booking 2022 and 2023 weddings.

My available dates fill up quickly since I only book one wedding per day, and typically only one per weekend. I book 15-18 weddings a year which allows me to give you my full attention on your wedding day. This also limits how many weddings I can photograph each year. Please use the form through my contact page to inquire about your date.

How do I reserve my date?

To book your wedding date, I require a signed contract and a non-refundable flat fee retainer to reserve your date. Once those two requirements are met, no other weddings will be booked on your reserved date.

If you are unsure of the package that is right for you at the time of booking, that is not a problem. We can always adjust the amount of coverage or adds on such as albums to yout package.

What is the investment price?

My main wedding photography package begins at $7500, while elopements and micro weddings start at $3500. Full wedding coverage includes 8 hours of photography coverage, fine art editing, as well as the high-resolution files. Please reach out to be sent my complete Wedding Investment Guide with more information and details.

Do you book more than one wedding per day?

No, I do not book multiple weddings per day. I also do not schedule other photography sessions on the day of your wedding.

I will never book an engagement or family session on the day of your wedding. This is seemingly becoming more of a common practice among photographers, especially with smaller weddings. But because you have invested in me, I do the same by not booking anything else the day of your wedding! This allows me to focus solely on your wedding day without distractions!

How Many Weddings have you Photographed?

For over 20 years, I have been capturing life and love. Photography has always been a passion of mine, and I photographed my first wedding in 2012. Since 2012 I have photographed over 100 weddings and countless engagement and couples sessions.

How do you approach the wedding day?

My passion is photographing weddings. I will work incredibly hard on your wedding day, capturing the moments between you and the love of your life while also capturing the moments that you didn’t even know were happening : )

During times like getting ready, your ceremony, and cocktail hour I will be taking candid and natural moments to remember your day with.

When it comes to times like your portraits, family photos, and moments that need guidance I will help you through what to do.  I never leave your portraits to chance. I truly believe one of my best skills is guiding couples through poses that allow them to relax and enjoy themselves while not worrying about what to do with their hands or where to look : )

Do you have backup Equipement?

Adirondack New York Wedding Photography 0901 - FAQ

Yes! I always bring multiple cameras, lenses, memory cards, and flashes to all of the events I photograph. As a wedding photographer I believe it is necessary to always have multiple cameras and equipment at every event that I photograph.

Are you insured?

Yes, Julia Rebecca Photography is fully ensured with Liability Insurance. If your venue requires proof of insurance I am happy to supply that to them : )

What if you have never photographed at my venue before?

I love working at new locations and venues. As an upstate New York wedding photographer I am constantly thinking on my feet while looking for the best light, locations, and backgrounds.

If I have never photographed an event at your venue, and it is possible, I will visit the location before your ceremony or reception. Some of my favorite photographs are usually when the bride is getting ready, and since that happens at a different place for most weddings, I am used to photographing in many varied locations.

What is your favorite part about photographing weddings?

I love the energy at weddings, some weddings are subdued, and some are a raucous party when the moon rises, but they all have energy flowing through them that is amazing to witness and capture.
Honestly, I love everything about the wedding day, and even more, I love knowing that you are starting a new chapter of your lives together. It is an honor being a part of your journey!

Is photography your full time job?

Yes! Photographing weddings has been my full-time career for six years, but I have been photographed weddings since 2012. I am so lucky to be able to serve my couples year-round without distractions from other obligations. Julia Rebecca Photography is my passion, as well as my full-time job.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! I am based in upstate New Yew in the Adirondacks but love to travel to new locations and venues throughout New England and New York.

Some of my favorite wedding venues in the Adirondacks include the Lake Placid Lodge, Whiteface Lodge, Ausable Club, Whiteface Club and Resort, Hotel Saranac, and Lake Placid Club. I also photograph weddings in Vermont, Saratoga, the Hudson Valley, and the Catskill mountains.

What is the online gallery that is included in your packages?

DSC 6404 1 - FAQ

The online gallery is a password protected online gallery from which you can view and print your photographs!

Your friends and family can also use the online gallery to view and print photographs from your wedding. This is awesome for you because moms, aunts, friends, grandparents, siblings, and anyone else can print the pictures that they want from the gallery!

Does the package price include editing?

Yes, every photograph in your gallery is professionally edited. I genuinely believe timeless, modern, and heartfelt images will never feel outdated or stale. Capturing iconic and beautiful pictures is my goal for every wedding and why I do not over-edit my photographs to what the current trendy style is.

I use both film and digital cameras on your wedding day so that your images will stand the test of time. One of the most common conversations I have at weddings is with people who no longer love their wedding photos. They went with a trendy style on their wedding day, and years later, they regret that decision.

Consistency within my work is essential to me so that you know the look and feel of the images taken on your wedding day. I believe you should have a good sense of what a photographer’s style is to know what the aesthetic of your images will be.

Before opening Julia Rebecca Photography, I was a professional Graphic Designer and studied photography while in college. I am fluent in Lightroom and Photoshop, which I believe is a must for any wedding photographer. The standard I set for every wedding is for each photograph to be given just the right amount of editing without looking over-processed.

How many images will we receive?

I don’t set a hard number for the amount of images you will receive, but it will usually be between 800 and 1,100 images. Longer weddings will have more, while shorter weddings might have fewer final photos.

I will capture thousands of photographs, and part of what you are investing in is my ability to sort through and pick out the best pictures for you. The last thing you want to do after your wedding is sort through thousands of photographs to find the best ones! I do the hard work for you.

Do you work with non-traditional couples?

Yes! I work with couples with many different budgets, visions, and relationships. I, of course, will work with same-sex and non-binary couples to fulfill their dreams on their special day. Everyone’s day of marriage (with or without a traditional ceremony) deserves to be beautifully documented and celebrated.

What is your favorite season?

We are so lucky in New England that we have 4 amazing seasons. Each one is beautiful and amazing in its own way, though. I love the light in the wintertime and snow on the ground. In the summer, weddings by the lake under a sailcloth tent are gorgeous. The fall brings cozy blankets, and the mountains glow orange and red. The spring welcomes us with the sweet smell of blooms and lush gardens.

I have photographed weddings in every season and every kind of weather imaginable, and they have all been extraordinary.

Do you know how to use flash?

Yes! Some photographers will tell you that it isn’t necessary, but having the ability to use flash is absolutely necessary on a wedding day. I would not feel comfortable photographing a wedding if I could not create magic with flash. I love natural light and will always prefer that your photos are in natural light, but there are times when using flash is necessary. I have the knowledge and ability to create beautiful photos in any situation.

What if it is freezing and your grandmother can’t stand outside for family photos? Does getting ready in a room with little window light mean you will have grainy photos? When your ceremony runs a little late because your preacher went rouge, will your photos of your beautiful centerpieces be orange? No, because I know how to create beautiful photographs with flash in all of these situations. Being able to create magic in these situations and any situation that might arise on your wedding day is so important.

Many of the photos that I share are actually created to match my natural light style with flash and most of the time you would never know flash was utilized. This is not something every photographer can do. This is an art unto itself and a skill that I am so glad I can provide my clients on their wedding day.

My venue is dark! What do I do?!

This is where flash comes in beautifully. Many of the venues in the Adirondacks and upstate NY are very difficult to produce beautiful timeless images in if you do not know how to use flash. The great camps and lodges are beautiful but lighting can be tricky to say the least. With my ability to capture stunning photographs inside using flash, I never worry about the lighting situation and you don’t have to either : ) I will bring the light with me!

will We have photos of Our Guests?

I am often asked this question because my couples care so much about the experience of their guests during their wedding day. Of course, you want photographs of the people they care so much about having a great time. I love this! Family and friends are so important and I will capture lots of great candids and group photos of your family and friends at your wedding.

Can you help with our timeline?

I will do more than just help with your timeline.  Your wedding day has so many moving parts and it is a lot to plan! I have a wedding guide with over 70 pages of information to help you plan your wedding. I will also create a custom timeline for you based on your specific needs for your wedding.

MADE OUR DAY SO ENJOYABLE

I can’t say enough good things about Julia. My husband and I eloped at Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid. I spoke with Julia quite a bit before our day, and she couldn’t have made the whole process any easier and stress free. She was always very quick to respond to my emails and phone calls.

Julia surpassed my expectations and made our day so enjoyable. Not to mention, the pictures she took are AMAZING. She had so many great ideas and took us to a few beautiful locations. It was freezing and she was trudging through the snow, but that didn’t stop her from making sure she got the best shots. She sent me my gallery that same week. Our family and friends can’t stop telling us how beautiful the pictures are and how great of a job our photographer did. I am so glad Julia was the one to capture our special day.
