A Cozy December Wedding at the Kimpton Taconic Hotel in Manchester, Vermont
There’s something undeniably special about a December wedding in Vermont. Maybe it is the quiet pace of the season, the soft winter light, and the feeling that everything slows down just enough to let you truly savor the moment. This Kimpton Taconic Hotel wedding in Manchester captured all of that magic and more for a couple whose kindness and warmth radiated throughout their entire day.
From the moment the day began, the atmosphere felt relaxed, intentional, and full of excitement.

A Meaningful Beginning
The couple first met back in January of 2015 during their sophomore year at the University of Vermont, introduced through mutual friends. Nearly a decade later, their story came full circle in the Green Mountains they both know so well. Evan proposed during a summer getaway to the Berkshires, on a quiet hike to a waterfall, which, looking back, was an intimate, thoughtful moment that perfectly reflected who they are together.
That same authenticity carried seamlessly into their wedding day.
Getting Ready at the Kimpton Taconic
Both partners got ready on-site at the Kimpton Taconic Hotel, with the bride in the charming bridal cottage and the groom and groomsmen settled into their own space at the hotel. The Taconic’s classic New England architecture and warm interiors created a beautiful backdrop for those early moments with soft window light, neutral textures, and a calm energy that set the tone for the day ahead.
One of my favorite moments is always the first look. For Lisa and Evan, it was a chance to pause, breathe, and take everything in together before the celebration began. These are often some of the most emotional moments of the day, and this one was no exception.
A Romantic, Candlelit Celebration
The design vision for the day leaned into winter without feeling seasonal in the traditional sense, they left reds or holiday motifs for Christmas. Instead, the aesthetic was romantic, elegant, and cozy, built around soft neutrals, deeper green accents, candlelight, and the subtle beauty of a Vermont winter.
The floral design by Peggy Brockett of The Lily of the Valley Florist brought that vision to life beautifully. Lush greenery, refined arrangements, and a timeless palette complemented the Taconic’s interiors perfectly, adding texture and warmth without overpowering the space.
The ceremony and reception both took place at the Kimpton Taconic Hotel, allowing guests to move effortlessly from one part of the celebration to the next. With live music by Anthony Cubbage on piano, guitar, and vocals, the ceremony felt intimate and personal, with a romantic vibe in the truest sense of the word.
Thoughtful Planning, Seamless Execution
A day that feels this calm and effortless doesn’t happen by accident. Lauren Pastoreck of LP Events, who served as day-of coordinator, ensured everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. From managing the timeline to keeping the energy relaxed and on track, her presence allowed the couple to be fully present and enjoy every moment without worry.
By the time guests transitioned into the reception room, the space was glowing with candlelight. Dinner, dancing, and heartfelt toasts unfolded naturally, creating an evening that felt both elevated and deeply personal.
A Celebration That Felt Like Them
Above all else, this wedding felt true to who the couple is together; authentic, relaxed, energy-filled, and full of love. They made room for meaningful family moments, prioritized connection over perfection, and trusted their vendor team completely. The result was a winter wedding that felt warm, intentional, and timeless.
The Kimpton Taconic Hotel is one of my favorite venues in Vermont for couples planning an elegant yet welcoming destination wedding. Paired with thoughtful design, experienced planning, and a couple who leads with kindness, it’s truly a recipe for something special.
