An Adirondack Winter Vow Renewal in Lake Placid

Winter in the Adirondacks is one of my favorite times of the year. Winter is often overlooked for the summer or fall months, but the snowy months are so amazing. It is worth braving the cold for gorgeous photos in the snow. Each year since their wedding, Catherine and Rob have planned a special vow renewal with each other. This year they choose to have their winter vow renewal at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid! I could not have been more thrilled to photograph this special moment for Catherine and Rob. We then made our way to one of my favorite locations for portraits on film outside of Lake Placid.

I was so glad we had a light dusting of snow the day before their ceremony. It was bitterly cold, but you would never know if from the warmth and love exuding out from their photographs. The soft light, pink mountains, soft snow, an amazing fur coat, and a dapper cowboy hat brought the whole session to life! These might be some of my favorite photographs to date. Using a film camera has been a process I have been getting more comfortable with over the past few months. Photographing film sessions have brought a new level of creativity and beauty to my couples sessions. I am so excited to be offering this medium to my clients.

Winter Session Photography Tips

The key to winter sessions is working quickly and efficiently, leaving time to warm up in the car between locations and lots of hand warmers stuffed into pockets! The light in the winter is divine and especially in the mountains! Another benefit this time of year is that since the sunsets around 4:30. We are done with your session by the late afternoon, which leaves plenty of time for a nice dinner out since you are already dressed to the nines!
