Adam’s back was towards her as he stood waiting under the tall pines that flanked the wildflower fields. As Alicia made her way towards him for their first look wind rustled the grasses around him. As she stood with her dress gently floating around her in the breeze, Adam turned around. The nervous tension in the air was replaced with pure joy as he saw his bride-to-be standing in front of him. They were ready to say their vows during their wedding at Harmony Golf Club!
The Wedding
Alicia and Adam’s Harmony Golf Club wedding overlooking Lake Champlain was stunning. Their’s one I had been looking forward to photographing for over a year. These two were so excited when talking about their wedding day from our first conversation all the way to the final details being put into place. I knew it was going to be a great day.
With family and friends coming from Canada and throughout the northeast you could feel the love of their family and friends who joined them. They were there to celebrate their marriage with them. I loved that Adam’s sister was their officiant for the ceremony. At the reception both Adam and Alicia’s fathers made the most touching toasts during the reception. I don’t think there was one dry eye in the house.
When choosing photographs for this post I had a terrible time narrowing down my favorite portraits! Harmony Golf Club is such a stunning venue it makes for so many beautiful portraits!
For portraits, what comes first for me when deciding on a location is the light. The light is more important than the background or scenery. The quality of light on Adam and Alicia’s wedding day was stunning! It was soft, filtered light that would break through the clouds for the most beautiful glow while catching the golden tips of grass swaying in the wind. Alicia and Adam choose to do a first look so we were able to make the most of Harmony’s beautiful location and views! As a bonus they were still making sure they made it to cocktail hour too!

I contacted Julia while living in Illinois. All while planning a wedding in the Adirondacks with my family (who live in Canada). Needless to say, it was a stressful situation. I was nervous about finding someone (via long distance) to photograph our special day.
